The prominent Anglican vicar and former Canon Treasurer of St Paul's Cathedral Canon Michael Saward has died.
He was 82 and passed away in his sleep whilst on holiday in Switzerland.
After studying Theology at Bristol University he was ordained priest at Canterbury Cathedral.
He was the vicar at St Mary's, Ealing from 1978 until 1991 during which time he also suffered head injuries when a gang of burglars broke into his home.
He retired from his post at St Paul's Cathedral in London in 2000 and penned more than 100 hymns including "Christ triumphant, ever reigning".
His wife Jackie died in 2009 and he leaves behind four children, Rachel, Joe, Jill and Sue.
