Christians are being asked to pray for Rev Les Isaac, the founder of Street Pastors, as he recovers from surgery.

Rev Les, who was admitted to hospital in May, had been discharged but has since returned to hospital due to heavy bleeding.

A 15th June post on his Facebook page called for prayer: "On Sunday morning (13th) Les was rushed to hospital because he was bleeding heavily again after having been discharged on Friday.  On Monday he had surgery which was successful in identifying the issue.  Please continue to stand with us in prayer that he will now experience complete healing and that the next couple of weeks he will feel God's peace and presence as he recovers. Much love, Louise & family."

An earlier post in June explained Les had been unwell: "I am writing at the request of Les and Louise on behalf of the Ascension Trust Prayer Team to update you and ask you to pray especially this week for Les, who has been quite unwell. A few days after a surgical day procedure twelve days ago, Les was in extreme pain and had to go back into hospital. Last Saturday evening (5th), when he was being discharged, he passed a lot of blood, which was rather a serious crisis and a real emergency. He is now being closely monitored; the surgical team are making it a priority to do an investigation this morning (Monday 7th) and of course it would be a help to know why the crisis arose, so they know how to treat him," the posted stated.

His brief discharge from hospital was captured on video with the words: "GLORY BE TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST....LES HAS BEEN DISCHARGED!"

As well as pioneering Street Pastors in the UK in 2003, Rev Les is also the founder and CEO of Ascension Trust. Since its establishment, Street Pastors has grown from 18 volunteers to a large network of helpers who engage with people in the streets to care, listen and help them.

According to its website, Ascension Trust has trained over 14,000 volunteers to date and has approximately 280 initiatives in the UK as well as projects in several countries around the world.

Rev Les was awarded an OBE by her Majesty the Queen and was appointed as an honorary Ecumenical Canon at Southwark Cathedral.
