Leave EU has called for all churches to ring their bells the morning after the UK officially leaves the European Union.
The campaign group said it's a way to mark a new chapter in the nation's history and will reassert the Church's relevance.
“Whichever way you look at it, February 1 will be the most momentous morning in British history since the glorious day in 1945 when our country celebrated victory over the Nazi regime in Germany,” the group said in a statement.
“That’s why we’re today calling on churches across the country to do what they did then and mark the first morning of our independence with the sound of bells ringing.”
“What finer way to reassert the Church’s relevance in this fresh new decade than by evoking the spirit of its own creation when ties with Rome were severed mirroring this millennium’s historic untethering from the Continent’s modern capital in Brussels.”
The group encouraged churchgoers to appeal to their local parish join in on the gesture.
