A woman collapsed in the crowd during Christian singer Brandon Lake’s Cowboy Church gathering at CMA Fest in Nashville on Sunday. Instead of going on in his sold-out concert, Lake stopped to pray for the woman. He told the crowd that her well-being is “more important” than his performance.

According to the Christian Post, it took first responders 10 minutes to reach the woman amid a packed worship service hosted by Lake at the Chevy Riverfront Stage. It is one of the most heavily attended faith-centered gatherings at CMA Fest.

Lake paused the concert as first responders worked their way through the crowd.

“Can we stop? This is more important,” Lake said to the crowd.

The woman was later transported backstage on a cart with an IV attached. By the time she was taken away, she was conscious.

Lake then led a prayer for the woman.

“In Jesus’ name, we ask right now that you would just minister to this person,” Lake said in a prayer. “Revive them right now, give them strength.”

Cowboy Church is a ministry Lake leads that he describes as a place for “the wanderers, the worn-out, the misfits, and the ones who aren’t sure they belong anywhere.”

“Faith and culture are colliding in really beautiful ways right now, and CMA Fest is one of the best places to see just how deeply that’s reflected in country music,” Gospel Music Association President Jackie Patillo said. “Brandon Lake’s Cowboy Church concert, along with Jamie MacDonald and Leanna Crawford performing throughout the week, is a perfect example.”

The concert continued after the medical emergency.
