Churches Together was speaking after new research by Migration Watch UK found BME communities see immigration as positive, but are also concerned about the number of new people coming to the UK. The research has been released in the run up to the general election in May.
A new lobby group 'Bright Blue' has been claiming the Conservative party must abandon their migration target to win a larger portion of the BME vote, because many traditionally vote Labour. However their claims have been based on selected polling.
The report claimed a majority of minority groups want immigration reduced, whilst 30% said they would like to it remain level and 10% said they wanted immigration to increase.
Joe Aldred is responsible for Pentecostal and Multi-Cultural Relations at Churches Together. He told Premier: "BME people are as concerned about all the facts of life as other people, but I don't think many of them go around thinking about whether or not there should be more immigration or less immigration.
"What I hear quiet a lot is a repetition of a warning that is given to Israel in the Christian Old Testament of the Bible, that says you should treat the stranger well, and remember that you too were at one time were strangers and foreigners in a foreign land."
