A series of five talks, conversations and panel discussions is being held at Blackburn Cathedral this month.
It has been coordinated by Revd Dr Mike Kirby, Blackburn Cathedral Curate and Lecturer in Radiotherapy Physics at Liverpool University.
He told Premier's Inspirational Breakfast that he feels it is key that the topics of faith and science are explored: "There's a lot to find out, when I talk about it in schools we highlight the fact that there's about 95% of the universe that we really don't know anything much about at all - and even the 5% that we do know, they're models for what might be happening."
He added: "It's impossible to prove God - that's why I entitled the series science and faith - what Jesus does within our lives, not just what we can prove mechanistically, perhaps through scripture and through other things."
The talks focus on ethics, physics, real-life science and extra-terrestrial life.
Revd Dr Mike Kirby told Premier that faith and science can work hand-in-hand.
He said: "It's only really since about 2007 that call to do something more, to the priesthood, came to the surface - but I think that call has always been there.
"I see my work in cancer therapy as being vocational, it's what God calls me to do."
The next talk takes place April 14th.
