Bishop hid hundreds of thousands from wife, says judge

Mr Justice Moor, speaking on behalf of Judge Richard Robertson who was presiding over the case, said the bishop's "disclosure was found to be lamentable and not frank," according to the Press Association.

Commenting on the amount the bishop hid from his estranged wife, Mr Justice Moor said: "The finding was that he had hundreds of thousands of pounds in offshore accounts/investments along with further undisclosed assets."

The judge ruled that both the bishop and his wife could not be named. However it was revealed the bishop used to be a banker in the United States, before becoming an ordained Anglican bishop.

The Press Association said the bishop worked overseas and not in the UK. It is not yet clear whether the bishop ever worked in Britain.

He and his wife lived in a home worth £825,000 in south-west London before their separation, where Judge Robertson ruled he must hand over the property - and others he owned abroad - to his now divorced wife.
