Billy Graham’s former home now a centre for pastoral restoration

by Kelly Valencia

A former home of the world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham has been transformed into a centre for pastoral retreat.

Located in Montreat, in the US state of North Carolina, Billy's Home Place Ministry offers "several experiences designed to rejuvenate pastors and help believers discover God’s will through diving deep into God’s Word". Pastors or missionaries who want to take a sabbatical in the house can do so free of charge.

Other individuals who have been involved in ministry for 15 years or more can also apply to stay in the house. The Graham family lived there for several years, and it is where the couple raised their five children. The two-story house is still in very good condition, and there are several walking trails and streams surrounding it. The family moved from the house in 1957 but stayed in Montreat.

In recent years, the house was rented out to holidaymakers, and guests could experience the family life of the Grahams through the original furniture, books, photos, and keepsakes in the house. According to the centre's website, Ruth Graham and businessman Stephen L. Thomas - who joined forces to make the centre a reality - wanted to provide a home for restoration while continuing the legacy of "America's Pastor".

"Billy’s Home Place seeks to perpetuate the legacy and eternal impact of Dr. Billy Graham and his wife Ruth. We pray that you would consider receiving this blessing so that you can fulfill God’s will and be a blessing to those He’s called you to serve," the website reads.
