International pop star Justin Bieber has released a new gospel-inspired song titled 'Holy', which draws on subjects of faith and hope. The track features Chicago artist Chance the Rapper and is awash with Christian imagery.
"The first step pleases the Father, might be the hardest to take. But when you come out of the water, I'm a believer," read part of the lyrics.
At the end of the song, Chance the Rapper — a committed Christian who has spoken openly about his faith in recent years — declares: "Formalize the union in communion, He can trust. I know I ain't leavin' you like I know He ain't leavin' us (Ah) I know we believe in God, and I know God believes in us."
Over recent months, Bieber has used his enormous social media platform to speak about his faith in an open and honest way: "I want to walk in the plans God has for me and not try and do it on my own!" he wrote in a post earlier this month. "I want to give up my selfish desires daily so I can be a good husband and future dad! I’m grateful that I can walk with Jesus as he leads the way."
Bieber is married to Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin), who is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin - himself a born-again Christian who has spoken at length in the media about undergoing a radical conversion.
Last month, Justin and Hailey got baptised by their pastor, Judah Smith, while boating on a lake:
