The Bible Society's #AdventChallenge is designed so challenges can suit everyone. A daily deed could be making a donation to a food bank or offering to help out a friend in need.
In 2014 more than 34,000 challenges were accepted, with more than 2,000 donations made to charity shops.
Almost 700 people offered to babysit for someone and more than 2,500 gifts were handed out in the run up to Christmas.
The idea behind #AdventChallenge was inspired by Bible stories that champion love, mercy, generosity and compassion.
Matt Cooper, Head of new Media at Bible Society, said: "We were thrilled by last year's response and want to build on it this year. People who took part felt they'd really been Good Samaritans and in doing so, had shared compassion, kindness and joy with others.
"The Bible can be a source of inspiration for all of us and we hope this year's #AdventChallenge will encourage people to delve into it as they spread goodwill."
