Archbishop suffers heart attack

The Archbishop of Glasgow Most Revd Philip Tartaglia was admitted to hospital in Salamanca yesterday.

After treatment and tests at the local hospital it was confirmed he had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The 64 year old was visiting the Scots College in Salamanca along with other Scottish bishops.

A spokesperson said: ""After tests and a minor medical procedure today it is hoped that Archbishop
Tartaglia will be able to leave hospital in a few days and return to Scotland as soon as is possible."

Parishes in his diocese have been informed of his illness and special prayers will be said at services throughout the weekend.
