Archbishop Justin Welby scoops book prize

Archbishop Justin scooped the Debut Author of the Year award at the Eden Awards 2017 for his book, Dethroning Mammon: Making Money Serve Grace.

The Anglican leader's first full-length title, Dethroning Mammon looks at money and materialism, and urges Christians "to use Lent as a time of learning to trust in the abundance of God."

Meanwhile, the Bible of the Year prize went to the New Living Translation Inspire Bible, while Chrissie Chapman's The Night the Angels Came took Biography of the Year.

Writer and speaker Jeff Lucas and Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu won the Author of the Year and Best Series awards, respectively.

Diary of a Disciple by Gemma Willis won the Children's Book of the Year accolade, while The Teenage Prayer Experience by Miranda and Noah Threlfall-Holmes trumped in the Best Book for Teenagers category.

Not limited to books, the Eden Awards 2017 also included the Tear Jerker of the Year (film), Songwriter of the Year and Speaker of the Year categories.

The prize giving ceremony is organised by the online Christian resources website, Eden.
