Apology after worshippers filmed entering church during dispute

According to the Telegraph, Jeremy Bedford and Sam Spreadbury were unhappy at proposed building works to St Peter and St Paul in Bassingbourn and wanted to prove the plans were excessive considering the number of worshippers.

The 14th century church is going through an £800,000 revamp which includes removing pews, improving kitchen and installing meeting rooms and a creche.

The vicar had claimed the church has a regular congrehation but the pair claimed it was much lower.

A diocesoson court has ruled there is a clear and convincing justification for carrying out the work.

They've now said sorry for any distress caused and have destroyed the tapes.
