Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo prayed with a pastor pitchside before Bournemouth’s Premier League clash with Arsenal yesterday, in a moment that quickly went viral.

This came as his club also celebrated his 100th Premier League appearance.

The 25-year-old was recently baptised and has openly credited his Christian faith for guiding his career and mindset.

In a brief clip shared on social media, Semenyo appeared calm as Pastor Jon Thompson laid a hand on his chest and offered prayers, drawing widespread attention from fans in Ghana and across the UK.

“That moment adds a layer of meaning to his performance,” one supporter wrote on X, while another noted, “It reminds us how much faith can motivate”.

Semenyo’s faith journey has also been publicly documented through a video shared on New Years day by Ballers In God featuring his baptism on Bournemouth beach.

According to the Daily Mail, the Manchester City bound player wrote online "I don't know where to start [...] the love was endless. These pictures don't even tell the full story but I thank you God for your protection, your blessings and your work over my life. 2026 let's get it!" as he posted his favourite moments from last year.
